AP Gov.:

  • Went over project expectations with class
  • in groups, students researched in both books about their area of the project
  • tomorrow they will do more research in media center (we will meet in media center) and will also research for appropriate visuals relevant to topic for two timeline cards
  • anything not completed, must be done over the three day weekend!
  • all information for both cards must be typed (don’t forget to also type the title to your cards and dates for that title), printed and brought to class on Tuesday, also, all visuals 8 to 12 must be printed and brought to class for Tuesday which will be art day!

 

American Government:

  • watched two review clip: republic vs. democracy, Magna Carta
  • went over outline on early influences again
  • students filled in a philosophers brain with visual symbols for Social Contract Theory
  • went over theory using visuals

 

American Government:

  • went over outline on early influences again

  • Go over 3 versions of Democracy discussed in Chapter of AP Book
  • Fill in outline on the board and go over early influences on American Government! (under AP Government resources a completed one has been placed to match your outline vs. mine)

AP Gov.:

  • did a warm up by reviewing with class the system/type of government already covered
  • the remaining three or four groups in each class presented their system/type of government
  • asked students to add the three theories of democracy to their notes (Pluralism, Elite & Class, & Hyper pluralistic) (the PowerPoint on type/system under AP resources)
  • gave students an outline assignment to be completed by Monday (8/25) called “early influences on American Government”
  • don’t forget unit 1 vocab. due Monday 8/25
  • don’t forget unit 1 quiz on Wednesday 8/27 (unit 1 vocab., state & govt. notes, types/systems of gov.-table plus three theories on democracy, early influences on Am. Gov. outline, three philosophers & social contract theory)

AP Gov.:

  • 1st half of class, all groups will finish all requirements for parts A & B of their presentation
  • we will also establish order for presentation during 1st half
  • 2nd half each group will present skit/cartoon/story/song etc… followed by the definition and characteristics of type or system presented
  • I will sweep behind each group with the same type/system to make sure all info. present and accurate
  • tomorrow we will continue with groups who did not present today!
  • we are probably looking at quiz for unit 1 on Tuesday 8/26

 

American Government:

  • 1st half of class, each group will finish up all aspects of presentation in parts A & B
